[edit] Episode overview
J.D. asks Dr. Cox to give his residents a pep talk as some of them are feeling overwhelmed. Dr. Cox tells them that they will definitely end up accidentally killing a patient through negligence sooner or later. This leads J.D. to wonder if he himself has ever killed anyone. Meanwhile, Elliot tries to convince Turk to allow a patient to have an organ transplant despite being a recovering drug addict. Elliot appeals to the hospital board who rule in her favour. J.D. becomes paralysed with fear and ceases giving his patients any procedures which might risk their lives. Dr. Cox explains to J.D. that fear is good and will make J.D. a good doctor if he can learn not to let it get on top of him.
Carla becomes angry at Turk after he leaves Rowdy in her closet to "guard her shoes", and tells Turk she wants him out of their apartment. Turk is insulted and the next day at work, Elliot suggests Carla do something nice for Rowdy: getting him deodorized. She takes him to a dog groomer, but they won't clean Rowdy. The Janitor then decides to do it, as taxdermy is one of his hobbies as he has an army of stuffed squirrels. On the way back from getting him deoderized, Carla leaves Rowdy on the roof of her car and he flies off. Carla realizes this and makes Turk go to a stripclub in order to distact him. She goes to Janitor for help. When she finds that the Janitor found a stuffed golden lab, she exclaims, "You found Rowdy!?" The Janitor then tells her that the dog is not Rowdy, but another dog named Steven, and that in order to get him, he needed to sell his entire army of stuffed squirrels. Carla is sorry he had to sell his squirrels, but thanks him for finding this dog. As she leaves, she sniffs the dog and exclaims "Ew, smells like Rowdy."
[edit] Trivia
- In the scene where J.D. imagines himself in Heaven he asks four former patients who died under his care if they think he killed them. The former patients include:
- Mrs. Tanner, played by Kathryn Joosten, from the first season episode "My Old Lady".
- Aaron Simon, played by Jack Shearer, from the first season episode "My Tuscaloosa Heart".
- Elaine, played by Jill Tracy, from the second season episode "My Philosophy".
- When JD imagines Rowdy attacking Carla, there is carpet on the ground, however there is no carpet on the ground in the real scene.
- Elliot decides to trust a patient who is a recovering drug addict, and attempts to convince others to her side. In the season one episode "My Drug Buddy", Elliot and J.D.'s then-girlfriend Alex argue over whether a recovering addict might have stolen drugs from the hospital, with Elliot believing the addict was probably the thief.
- Last appearance of the true Rowdy until "My Scrubs", where it is revealed that the Janitor found the real Rowdy. At the end of that episode, JD and Turk decide to keep Rowdy and Steven.
