My Country, My Country is an Academy Award-nominated documentary filmed in Iraq. Filmmaker Laura Poitras spent over eight months alone in Iraq filming this documentary. The film shows life in Iraq for average Iraqis under U.S. occupation. Poitras focus primarily on Dr. Riyadh, an Iraqi medical doctor, father of six and Sunni political candidate.[1]

The film was well accepted by critics.[2]

The film has a limited US theaterical release.[2] The PBS program POV broadcasted the film in October 2006.[1]

After completing the film, Poitras was assigned the highest rating possible on the US Department of Homeland Security's watchlist.[3]
