My Book about ME

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

My Book about ME is a book written by Dr. Seuss and illustrated by Roy McKie. It was published by Random House in 1970, under the Beginner Books stamp. This book is deliberately incomplete: There are blanks on every page where the reader is meant to fill in answers specific to him or her. It was intended that the young reader would read the book, fill in the answers, and feel accomplishment in doing it by themselves. Owners may save the book as a memento and look back on it when they are older, as a reminiscient stimulant.

[edit] Content

Examples of pages in My Book About ME include the first page, which consists of blanks prompting the owner to state their name, age, and who gave them the book. Other pages ask various questions such as the number of windows in the owner's house, how many siblings they have, and their favorite things. There is a blank page that simple says, "This is how big my foot is:" under which the owner is supposed to trace their foot.
