My Blueberry Nights is an upcoming film directed by Wong Kar Wai that will be released on June 1, 2007.
The film is to be Wong's first English language film, and will star Norah Jones and feature Rachel Weisz, Jude Law (as the male love interest) and Natalie Portman in supporting roles. David Strathairn and Ed Harris are also expected to participate. Singer Norah Jones was the only choice for the leading role, though she had no acting experience.
Although it had been rumoured to be a film concentrating around the events of the Hurricane Katrina, Wong has denied this and says it will be a road movie. The film is loosely based on an earlier short film followed by the character Jones will portray as she works in several restaurant settings and learns of the trials and tribulations of true love.
It was filmed in the United States, including locations in Nevada and in New York City [1] [2]. Some scenes were shot at the restaurant The Arcade and the Bar Ernestine and Hazel's, in Memphis. [1]
