[edit] Plot

Spoiler warning: Plot and/or ending details follow.

My-Otome Zwei takes place one year after the events of My-Otome. Early trailers spoke of a meteor threatening Earl that the Otome had to destroy, but did not divulge much more in the way of details.

Episode One of the OVA covers the plot of the meteor as promised by the trailers, but it is destroyed early into the episode and forms only a small part of the plot. In the wake of the meteor's destruction, a mysterious entity is released that petrifies those it encounters, including Shizuru, Miyu and Miss Maria. Mikoto falls unconscious while the Black Valley disappears with Mashiro and Mai inside.

Episode Two of the OVA follows from where Episode One left off. Without Mashiro, Arika cannot access her Robe and is caught up in a bus hijacking incident in Aries, but is rescued by a force comprising Haruka, Sara, Chie in her new Meister Robe and Aries' Otome Delta Squad. The mysterious entity reappears and does battle with Haruka, eventually petrifying her, though it is revealed that the petrified Otome are in fact still alive, just that the entity has solidified their nanomachines. A conversation near the end of the episode with an imprisoned Nagi hints that he knows information about this entity from a book he found in a library.

Episode Three of the OVA will follow the events shortly after where Episode II ended. The third OVA is scheduled for release in Japan on May 25th, 2007.

[edit] Production history

My-Otome Zwei has not been licensed in the U.S. yet and thus no information on the voice acting talent to be used is available yet. It is likely that the same voice actors will be used as with the My-Otome dub.

[edit] Release info

Four volumes are planned.

Each disc contains one episode, with a minimum running time of 30 minutes. They come with singles of music used in the episode. Volume 2 also came with a figure of Arika in her Meister uniform and volume 3 will come with a figure of Arika in her Ver. 2.0 Meister Robe.

The first volume was officially released 2006-11-24 in Japan, but the RAW was made available online on 2006-11-23, one day earlier. Volume 2 was officially released 2007-02-23 in Japan, but the RAW was made available online on 2007-02-22, one day earlier. Volume 3 will be officially released 2007-05-25 in Japan, barring any unforeseen delays, though the RAW will be released on 2007-05-24 if past events remain the same way.

[edit] Manga

There is a manga of My-Otome Zwei being serialised in Champion RED, done by Abeno Chako. Having nothing to do with the original My-Otome manga, it follows the OVA at first, but later diverges.

[edit] Trivia

  • The headline on the newspaper in the first episode reads "Arinko, Save Us! Ms. Arika Yumemiya Make a GreatCoup".
  • The small Slave Lord in the first episode working at Mai's ramen stand is referred to on the audio commentary as "Ribbon-chan".
  • Ami Koshimizu's voice is heard asking several times throughout the first episode's audio commentary "Where's Nina?" and cheers when Nina does finally appear on screen briefly at the end.
  • The Otome Mahya Blythe is shown in the preview for the third OVA with a bowl of curry on her head. Nina also appears in the preview in a robe resembling a luchadore mask, though the reliability of the images in the preview are questionable, given the images seen in the preview for the 2nd volume that, among other things, featured Ishigami as an alien.
