I am withholding my real name out of caution. If you care who I am, you probably know who I am. This page is here only as context for any edits or contributions I make to Wikipedia.
I am a technical writer in Austin, Texas, USA. I have been more or less deeply involved with computers and computer science since about 1977, with regular diversions to study other scientific, technical, or historical topics that catch my interest. I have a fairly strong background in the English language, and some very small familiarity with Latin and a couple of other European languages.
So far I have made only small and infrequent contributions to Wikipedia. I am deeply suspicious of the written word, and therefore conscious of the need to check facts as far as possible when writing or editing a public document. For this reason, I am unlikely to contribute time to Wikipedia except when there is time to do it right, or when I just can't help myself.
Until I have spent more time at this, I may lapse in matters of Wiki tagging and editorial policy. Please forgive me.
