Mutiny Act of 1765

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

An act for punishing mutiny and desertion and for the better payment of the army and their quarters was placed on the American colonies by Great Britain under Prime Minister Grenville. This act increased the presence of soldiers and customs officials in the colonies.

The Act also deemed that any act of violence towards a superior officer be punishable by death. This Act was a measure to prevent further mutinies.
