[edit] Documentary Channel

Hi again! Just thought you should know that articles are usually moved using the "move" button at the top of your page. Cutting and pasting, as appears to be the case here, just removes the original page's history. Hopefully you just forgot about it; I've done it a couple of times myself by accident.

I've tagged the page for a history merge already, so don't worry about it. It looks like a speedy deletion tag - which bugs me a bit - but that looks to be how it's done. — stickguy (:^›)— || talk || 23:38, 29 August 2006 (UTC)

No prob, yeah sorry about that, slipped my mind, thats the way I use to do it before when I began on here, force of habit I guess. ~The artist formally known as '''Cdn_boi'''~ 23:44, 29 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] RE: Name changes to CDN TV Channels

Hi, I noticed you are changing the names of various Canadian TV channel articles, putting the word 'Canada' in brackets, what's the reason for that? You are not including an explanation in the edit summary box, which is a Wikipedia rule by the way(I know I got burned for not writing summaries). I think they are fine as they were, what's the point of changing them. These are CANADIAN channels, thus the word 'Canada' in the title. It looks like you are trying to make it look as though they are the real thing, wishful thinking because they are not. They are Canadian clones. as I like to call them :-). Just curious, don't worry I won't change them back.HeMan5 21:12, 28 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] ecology channel

hi there, did you post the article on the ecology channel? since they announced the launch for 2006 but are obviously still not up & running by now (nov. 2006), i am wondering: what happened and on what basis are you calling it 'defunct'? cheers, c.

Hi there, yeah I was the one who posted the info about The Ecology Channel returning to cable systems across Canada as Ecology Canada in 2006. The channel is no longer operating, which means it is "defunct" and it is posted on the web site that it will be relaunching in 2006. I emailed one of the top guys from Ecology Canada and they said that they were hopeing to be relaunching on various cable systems by the end of 2006. There still is time for it to relaunch by that time but who knows, maybe their predictions were wrong and they won't be relaunching in time, but they said it tho. later! ~The artist formally known as '''Cdn_boi'''~ 20:39, 5 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Edit summary

When editing an article on Wikipedia there is a small field labeled "Edit summary" under the main edit-box. It looks like this:

Edit summary text box

The text written here will appear on the Recent changes page, in the page revision history, on the diff page, and in the watchlists of users who are watching that article. See m:Help:Edit summary for full information on this feature.

Filling in the edit summary field greatly helps your fellow contributors in understanding what you changed, so please always fill in the edit summary field, especially for big edits or when you are making subtle but important changes, like changing dates or numbers. Thank you. -- dockingmantalk 05:10, 17 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Orphaned fair use image (Image:M pix hd.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:M pix hd.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently specifies that the image is unlicensed for use on Wikipedia and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. [edit] G4techTV Canada

You've already read my explanation of the fact that it is improper to rename a page by cutting and pasting its text. Further attempts to do so shall be interpreted as vandalism. —David Levy 06:29, 10 January 2007 (UTC)

I warned you not to vandalize these pages by cutting and pasting the text. Next time, I will report you and recommend a temporary block.
If you wish to propose a proper page move, please do so at Wikipedia:Requested moves. —David Levy 18:20, 10 January 2007 (UTC)
Stop performing copy-and-paste moves. You are repeatedly breaking the article's revision history and several redirects. If not for the fact that I've expressed an opinion regarding which title is preferable, you already would have been blocked as a result of this vandalism.
Again, if you believe that the title should be changed, list a proposal at Wikipedia:Requested moves. —David Levy 18:56, 10 January 2007 (UTC)

(and as a side note, if you hadn't been blocked because of the disruption of performing the cut and paste moves...you were above three reverts and would likely have been blocked for that. Please try to keep a cool head in these situations). Syrthiss 18:58, 10 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Welcome!

Hi, Musimax, welcome to WikiProject LGBT Studies!

We are a growing community of Wikipedia editors dedicated to identifying, categorizing, and improving articles of interest to the LGBT community. Some points that may be helpful:

  • Our main aim is to help improve LGBT-related articles, so if someone asks for help with an article, please try your hardest to help them if you are able.
  • Most important discussions take place on the project's main discussion page; it is highly recommended that you watchlist it.
  • The project has several ongoing and developing activities, such as article quality assessment, and a project-wide article collaboration, both of which you are welcome to take part in. We also have a unique program to improve our lower quality articles, Jumpaclass, so please consider signing up there.
  • If you have another language besides English, please consider adding yourself to our translation section, to help us improve our foreign LGBT topics.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask on the talk page, and we will be happy to help you.

And once again - Welcome!

[edit] ProSieben Sat.1 Welt Canada Article deletion

I would like to know why this article was deleted, what was the rational behind this move?? I am the one who created the article and I fail to see the reason why it would be deleted when other similar articles are still in existence?!? I noticed that in the history section it refers to some history merge by you, care to explain what that means since you seem to be the one responsible for the deletion of this article?!HeMan5 03:47, 30 January 2007 (UTC)

I've replied to HeMan5 on his talk page, explaining about cut-and-paste moves and assuming good faith in others. I've also merged the histories of the two articles so they should now be just one article with both sets of edits. You may like to read Wikipedia:Cut and paste move repair holding pen and its links - this is also the page to use to request a history merge in future. Hope this helps and happy editing! [edit] LGBT WikiProject Newsletter

The LGBT studies WikiProject Newsletter!
Issue III - February 1, 2007

Announcement: If someone requests help or feedback on an article, please try your hardest to help them out if you are able. Thank you.

Project News
  • The LGBT Portal has once again been revamped and a work rota started. Efforts towards Featured Portal status are slowly coming together.
  • The assessment system has been a great success, we have tagged over 4000 articles! Please tag any LGBT related articles you come across by adding {{LGBTProject | class=}} to the talkpage. Please see the Assessment Department for how to assess an article according to the grading system.
  • The Translation department has changed its focus, to LGBT articles about non-English topics and people on which there may be more information on the relevant foreign Wikipedia. Please add your name if you are fluent in any language other than English.
  • Jumpaclass is picking up slowly, with nine people having entered. With over 2000 stubs we need to improve our article quality. Please sign up and get it going! Challenge another user to see how far you can jump a stub!
  • There is an ongoing discussion about the current LGBT categorisation system here, here, and a little bit here. A special page has now been set up here to deal with this.
  • A Watchlist has been set up to monitor controversial and/or highly vandalised articles. It can also be used for article disputes, just add a note explaining the nature of the dispute.
  • With the influx of so many active members, there is now enough support for a LGBT studies peer review, which may be found here. It's in the beta phase at the moment, so bear with us if we make any mistakes. Feel free to peer review any articles you have been working on.
  • It was agreed this month to start reducing the uses of the Notice board, as many members felt that it was not effective. An open tasks template has been created, bringing together important announcements, FAC/FARs, Peer reviews, XfDs, the COTM, and requested articles. You may desire to watchlist it. A Deletion sorting subpage is also now working to bring together XfDs - this should be bot-driven, but we have not currently tagged enough articles to make this fully automated, so please update the list with any LGBT-related XfDs you come across.

[edit] Your edits to TELETOON (Canada)

Please do not add unhelpful and non-constructive information to Wikipedia, as you did to TELETOON (Canada). Your edits could be considered vandalism, and they have been reverted. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. Thank you. Cavenba 22:02, 7 February 2007 (UTC)

You said "Ha, are you kidding me, I was improving on the article which is very choppy with info placed in random spots where it doesn't need to be, I was making it more orderly, what r u the boss of how Teletoon should be written or something?" Well, by uploading and replacing images with duplicates is not improving the article. Please stop uploading duplicates of Image:Teletoonnew.gif Cavenba 20:08, 8 February 2007 (UTC)
The images you are uploading are in GIF format which is obsolete, and have an opaque background. Both should be fixed. And instead of uploading duplicates, there's the button that says "Upload new version of this file." You should use that instead. Cavenba 12:16, 9 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Shopping TVA revert

Is there some specific reason you reverted me at Shopping TVA? --Fang Aili talk 17:38, 13 February 2007 (UTC)

Yes, you deleted valuable info and deleted the logo, all of which are valuable info to the article. MusiMax 17:41, 13 February 2007 (UTC}
The logo was redlinked, and was deleted because it didn't indicate a source. The "important information" sounded spammy. --Fang Aili talk 17:44, 13 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Unspecified source for Image:Tva shopping.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Tva shopping.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{fairusein|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 17:38, 13 February 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Fang Aili talk 17:38, 13 February 2007 (UTC)

After looking at your contributions, I notice you are uploading a large number of logos without indicating sources. You have also re-uploaded several that have recently been deleted. This could be considered disruption. Please add sources, as well as fair use rationales for these logos. Thank you. --Fang Aili talk 17:42, 13 February 2007 (UTC)
This also applies to your contributions as User:Cdn boi. Thank you. --Fang Aili talk 18:34, 13 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Image tagging for Image:CP24_Screenshot.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:CP24_Screenshot.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the source and creator of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the source and creator of the image on the image's description page, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided source information for them as well.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. For assistance on the image use policy, see Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 07:57, 15 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Fair use images without sources or rationales

Please do not upload any more fair use images without providing a source and a fair use rationale. You have been asked to do this many times. Continuing to upload images without this information could be considered disruption, and is a blockable offence. By not adding the information you are just creating more work for people who will have to tag and delete these images. Please, read the above image policies. Thank you, Fang Aili talk 20:14, 16 February 2007 (UTC)

This is your last warning. The next time you upload an image without a source or a fair use rationale (as all your image uploads are), you will be blocked. --Fang Aili talk 15:21, 19 February 2007 (UTC)
You have been blocked for 31 hours for continuing to upload fair use images without source or rationale. --Fang Aili talk 00:03, 24 February 2007 (UTC)
Actually most of them have sources (I happened to click on one that didn't), but they still need rationales. Thank you, Fang Aili talk 00:10, 24 February 2007 (UTC)

I received your emails. Yes, you're providing sources now. However as I mentioned above, fair use images also require fair use rationales. You were warned many times. If you'd like to start adding rationales I'll unblock you. --Fang Aili talk 16:45, 24 February 2007 (UTC)

I may not be online much the rest of the day; if you can't contact me, try User:BradBeattie or User:Firsfron, who will be happy to assist. Thanks, Fang Aili talk 16:46, 24 February 2007 (UTC)
