[edit] Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/KROQ Top 106.7 Countdowns (2nd nomination)

Hi Musicpvm, I've just closed this AfD as no consensus again. However, this is by no means suggestive of a precedent on radio countdown lists. As this appears to be a systemic issue, I encourage you to proceed with a Request for comment on the issue of countdown lists, if you feel strongly about it. Many thanks -- Samir धर्म 05:57, 27 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] pls revert

Ethnicity should generally not be emphasized in the opening unless it is relevant to the subject's notability, I would agree. But here I believe that it is relevant to the subject's notability. For example, she is listed on the wikipedia list of jewish blacks. Pls revert. Tx. --Epeefleche 04:22, 30 August 2006 (UTC)

Actually, we have lists for every ethnicity and religion you can think of on Wikipedia. That doesn't mean everyone on those lists should violate MOS in their header. Mad Jack 15:32, 30 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Re: La Toya Jackson

Hi musicpvm. Thanks for the note on my talk page. I really should have put that request on your talk page the same as I asked you to do for me. That way you would have gotten the New Messages box instead of having to find it on your watchlist or stumble across it on the article talk page. Thanks for the reference. Happy editing! --Cromwellt|talk|contribs 18:41, 1 September 2006 (UTC)

i think u need to stop making biased changes on ashanti's page. if ashanti is not hip hop as well as r&b neither is mary.Danotorious1jd 02:55, 2 September 2006 (UTC)

that 's what i was saying she is hip hop soul and r&B but you keep taking it out. so are we seeing eye to eyeDanotorious1jd 03:54, 2 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Pop ballad

Please refer to articles Long Black Veil (song), The Most Beautiful Girl in the World (Prince song), Still Waiting (Prince song), Only You (Harry Connick Jr), Long Black Veil (song), Diamonds and Pearls (song), Do Me, Baby etc.

"Pop ballad" is a genre, like rock ballad. Some R&B/soul/pop musicians experience with this genre (like in Unfaithful (song), Kelly Clarkson is the best modern example) and some focus on this genre (as far as I know Prince is the most famous). Pop ballad is non-danceable pop music, influenced by classical music, and usually having very melodic lyrics. I hope that clears the topic. [edit] An award

The Minor Barnstar
For your work on categorization. utcursch

P.S. Please feel free to move the award to your user page, I didn't know where to put it on your page (which is full of userbox), so I put it here, on your talk page. :) utcursch | talk 10:04, 15 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Re: Stop removing genres from articles

I don't know what makes you think Beyoncé is a pop musician. Just because she has some danceable songs? Hopefully, there are still non-poppish contemporary R&B singers, and Beyoncé is definitely one of these. No way "Naughty Girl" and "Check On It" are pop songs. Who cares if "Check On It" did well on Billboard Pop 100? Amerie's "1 Thing" and Alicia Keys' "Unbreakable" also charted the Pop 100, and they aren't pop songs. Also, Beyoncé's music sounds totally different from actual pop-R&B singers' one (Ashanti, Mariah Carey, Jennifer Lopez et al.). By the way, she has more soul-oriented songs than pop ones, just listen to Dangerously In Love. Unfortunately, B'Day didn't do the same... All I'm trying to say is, I didn't mean to be annoying or something, I just can't stand this whole pop thing. That's it. Funk Junkie 20:17, 18 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Thief

Just wanted to let you know I reverted your change of the "Thief" article for Our Lady Peace. Unbeknownst to many there is no naming convention that favors the band name over the song release year in the title. There is no reason to change this.— OLP 1999 22:44, 18 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Pink

Thanks for the information about the Pink move. I have now gone through the requested move steps and the discussion appears at Talk:P!nk#Requested_move. I hope I got it right. Wryspy 21:08, 23 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Template:Evanescence

Out of curiosity, why did you remove the includeonly for Category:Evanescence from this page? -- Huntster T@C 02:58, 27 October 2006 (UTC)

Understood. I knew the function of course, but I supposed that it would be useful to have all of those in the Evanescence category, and then further break down into the albums and songs subcats. Ah well, I'll keep it in mind for the future. -- Huntster T@C 14:45, 27 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Thanks for being calm

Wanted to express appreciation for some of the more mellow corrections made on the Talk:Beyoncé Knowles page. (People there sure get heated ... the lengthy debate on what notes she can or can't hit is just mind-blowing for me.) I especially liked the polite explanation to the person who thought a lot of material had been deleted, where you explained about using the page history. I had just read suggestions about that at Don't bite the newcomers. Best wishes to you, and keep cool. Lawikitejana 21:52, 1 November 2006 (UTC) a fellow Heroes viewer, BTW

[edit] Category:Categories named after television series

I wonder, when you added Category:Categories named after television series to the TV serise categories, why did you delete the existing categories without checking if the main articles depended on those existing categories for categorization? For example, America's Got Talent relied on Category:America's Got Talent to be included in Category:2000s TV shows in the United States, Category:NBC network shows, etc. Reading Wikipedia:Categorization and subcategories#Topic article rule, I realize this dependence is wrong. But it would have been nice if such a dependency in the main articles was fixed first. Tinlinkin 08:27, 21 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Indian Americans , Sexual Predators

Not enough reason to justify that RV. Talk:Indian_American#Sexual_Predators.2C_Indian_Americans Would like to know what you think. Did you even read the sources or watch the video in MSNBC? --பராசக்தி 20:11, 24 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Beyoncé Knowles

Do you have any other sources other then the ones you are using? The current ones use a video that does not have a clear identity of the person being filmed. You claimed that "received much attention in mainstream media". You should provide better sourcing. One last thing. This section has no relevance to the main article and should be moved to the Peta article. Purgatory Fubar Converse or Snafu 20:23, 24 March 2007 (UTC)
