It's licensed correct. And without my knowing of your position, the image couldn't have been appropriately tagged. But, since you included the information on the talk page, I'm fine with it. The project has several ongoing and developing activities, such as article quality assessment, peer review and a project-wide article collaboration, all of which you are welcome to take part in. The LGBT studies WikiProject Newsletter! Issue IV - March 1, 2007 Monthly Challenge: Find 5 editors to LGBT articles and invite them to the project! Check out our recruitment tips if you need them. Good luck! Project News With such rapid development of the project, it was decided that a Coordinator was needed to ensure all the fiddly maintenence was kept up. Elections were held and Dev920 (talk • contribs) has been elected Coordinator for the next three months. She said "I am honoured and proud to be at the helm of such a fantastic WikiProject and look forward to our future". Congratulations Dev! The assessment system continues to be a great success, we have tagged over 5200 articles! Please tag any LGBT related articles you come across by adding {{LGBTProject | class=}} to the talkpage. Please see the Assessment Department for how to assess an article according to the grading system. Jumpaclass is proving to be quite successful! The winner at the end of the year gets to pick the January collaboration, so sign up and get going! Or challenge another user to see how far you can jump a stub! A new Community department has been set up to foster community amongst our members. It mostly acts as other WikiProjects' Outreach department, but also has a Quilt to which every member is entitled to add a square containing anything of their choice. The peer review is not getting much custom - please notice you can cross-list other peer reviews from different projects that also fall within our scope. Many people still seem to be unaware that the Deletion sorting subpage exists for XfDs to be listed: please use and watch that page instead of issuing "alerts" for ordinary AfDs on the project talkpage. WP:FILM has a current drive to give every film article an infobox. WP:LGBT successfully gave all 105 LGBT infoboxless films infoboxes, so a big thank you to everyone who participated. A new template, LGBT-footer, has been created for articles which are becoming to cluttered with infoboxes. Thanks to WJBscribe and SatyrTN for creating it. A very basic resources page has been started. Please add to it as you come across useful sites. A promotional poster for the project has been created: http://wplgbt.tripod.com/Wikipedianeedsyou.doc (you have to directly cut and paste the url, or it won't let you download it). Please distribute anywhere and everywhere you desire, such as gay libraries, cybercafes, community centres and so on. Also, please let Dev920 know where you have put it up, so she can keep track of our coverage. An LGBT Publications Taskforce has been proposed. Please sign up here if you are interested in being involved. An LGBT WikiProject has been set up on the Spanish Wikipedia! Set up by Raystorm, it has already gained six members and is developing an assessment system. If you speak any Spanish, please consider going up and lending a hand if you can! Article News An LGBT article, Homosexual readings of Jesus and John, made it onto the main page as a DYK this month. Congratulations to Haiduc, who wrote the article. Thank you for the excellent updates and new block on the San Francisco Gay Men's Chorus article. It seems you have culled some facts from the SFGMC website (and from GMCLA's website as Bruce Mayhall is their conductor, not SFGMC's). SFGMC's website is out-of-date, hence my revisions. I would be grateful if you would clarify the tag you added today. You tagged the article for "external links clean up". Each of the eight referenced links in the article relate specifically to the content, so I'm confused about the reason for the tag. However, if the tag is related to the "References" list at the end of the article (which are not linked to the article), that would make sense. I will remove many of these as they relate to content that has since been deleted from the article. MusicMen 19:24, 6 March 2007 (UTC)

wow! i see you've been quit busy today! the only problem is with the image, which should be in the infobox. the only reason the other gay choruses have a logos only in their article, is logo images are free.

you left me a note about images, which i don't fully understand. sorry if i'm being daft, but could please explain further? thanks for your help. MusicMen 05:25, 8 March 2007 (UTC)

the image in the infobox is supposed to be that of the subject. in the infobox for some of the other gay men's choruses, i used the the fair use license for logos, because it was the only image available.

Saw your note about too many links, so now I'm confused. I thought you suggested that the list of references should be incorporated into the article as relevant links, which is what I have done. Are you saying that I've provided too much evidence of fact? MusicMen 23:57, 12 March 2007 (UTC)

lol...not all the refs...just the relevant ones. you've really done a bang-up job on the article, and that's great, but every line-item needn't be referenced. my 'very loose' rule of thumb, and the question i ask myself is: 'will this claim be challenged?.' If so, 'ref' it. another question i ask myself is, whether the ref is off topic. e.g. the ref link i removed for mr. sims in the first paragraph. the info in the link is more relative to an article on sims rather the sfgmc. in contrast, comments about the assasination were teetering on non-topical, until you brought it all together with the ref showing that the SFGMC was 'there' and the significance of their first performance. keep it up...cheers! --emerson7 | Talk 00:13, 13 March 2007 (UTC)

Hi, MusicMen! I noticed you'd put San Francisco Gay Men's Chorus on the Jump-a-Class page. Are you aware of how the JaC is played? Most people start with "stub" articles and try to jump them up to Start or B. The goal is to see how far you can jump it in a week. There is nothing wrong with doing Jump-a-class starting with a B article :) My reason for asking is that it means you have a week to get the article to GA or better - difficult, but a great challenge :) -- SatyrTN (talk | contribs) 21:26, 8 March 2007 (UTC)

Seattle Men's Chorus article - where is it?

I added a link to the Seattle Men's Chorus on an article, and it came up red and didn't connect. I can only get to the SMC page now via cached links. Has the article been deleted? MusicMen 16:43, 20 March 2007 (UTC)

lol...just looking at it, it's my guess that you used the 'fancy quote' instead of the regular quote. e.g. ' vs. ’ .

also, i want pass on to you a clarification i received re the infobox. the fields for “date of birth”, and “date of death” are reserved for musicians (people) while “origin” field (in normal font) is for groups. i've made changes to most of the men's chorus articles i'm aware of, but there may be more. --emerson7 | Talk 17:07, 20 March 2007 (UTC)

Please add a link to your user page and/or user talk page from your signature, especially because the name you use for signing (MusicMen) is so different from your actual username. This will make it easy for people to know who they are conversing with; otherwise people have to search the page history and basically guess that MusicMen = Mcguireka. The LGBT studies WikiProject Newsletter! Issue V - April 3, 2007 Monthly Challenge: Article News Three articles were promoted to Featured Article status this month: Homer's Phobia (2007-03-26), Trembling Before G-d (2007-03-15) and Andrew Van De Kamp (2007-03-30). Congratulations to Gran2 and Dev920 (twice!) respectively for all their hard work! Three new articles appeared on the Main Page as Did you know? items: Classification of transsexuals (2007-03-02), Steve Stanton (2007-03-08) and Melbourne Gay and Lesbian Chorus (2007-03-23), started by Lwollert, Yksin and MusicMen, respectively. DavidShankBone deserves kudos for his current drive to provide quality LGBT photos from the NYC area. One of the more recent photos is posted on Michael Musto, and you can check out the gallery on David's user page. Project News There is now the beginning of a list of core topics to possibly be included in the Wikipedia 1.0 release. Your suggestions are welcome; there may be many core LGBT topics still missing. We have a list of people categorized as LGBT whose articles need to be checked for reliable sourcing. This effort is necessary and urgent, to comply with Wikipedia's policy on living persons. Please take a few moments to source one article; if you've got time, do another. SatyrTN identified all the articles that were in subcategories of Category:LGBT but not yet tagged with the project's banner, about 1,400 articles. These have been completed, though SatyrBot will make periodic runs through the cats to find any new entries. Thanks Satyr! The number of articles within our project's spectrum (6,667 currently) should now be relatively stable and only grow with article creation. However, if you find a category that should be included, please let SatyrTN know so it can be included in the bots runs. Work is underway to improve the LGBT Portal. Please add any good quality (free) photos you come across on LGBT articles to the gallery here. Also if anyone would like to volunteer to help in maintaining the portal, please make yourselves known on the Portal's talkpage. If you see any articles for deletion or any other deletion discussions related to LGBT topics, please remember to add them to the deletion sorting board. Thanks!
