Talk:MusicIP

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Is anyone else wondering about privacy issues? Sadly I haven't found any informations about the topic of data privacy and the MusicIP Mixer software, not in the EULA or on a web-search. I mean that close-source-tool is scanning a computer's harddisk, "thumbnailing" all the songs (and nothing else?) and is using an internet-connection to exchange data with a central server.

See http://musicip.com/privacy for a very short description on their policy. Schizmatic 00:24, 11 April 2006 (UTC)

They state quite clearly that they don't keep any data which links users to songs, so even if a pushy authority got legal access to their database, no users could be tracked for what they have in their music collection. CarlosTheTackle

[edit] fingerprint checking

If a match is found, then the software will only have to make a much quicker verification pass (fingerprint checking) on the track in question.

My understanding is that a digital fingerprint is a hash. The part above appears to not be describing an acoustic analysis. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Midnightcomm (talkcontribs) .}
