March:
- 29 March: A Latin music retailer is boycotting the music of Jennifer Lopez after she chose not to promote her first all-Spanish album in Latin music stores. The Latin music retailer, 'Ritmo Latino', is no longer selling any of Lopez' music, and has released a flyer nationwide criticizing Lopez for supposedly not supporting the Latin community.[1]
- 19 March: Miles Davis is to be portrayed by actor Don Cheadle in a biopic. The film has not yet gone into production.[2]
- 1 March: P Diddy could be taken to court after being found in breach of a previous agreement not to use the name "Diddy" in the United Kingdom. The agreement had been formed with DJ Richard "Diddy" Dearlove. [3]
February:
- 15 February: Al Gore has announced plans for Live Earth concerts across seven continents in July 2007 to raise awareness of global warming.[4]
- 9 February: Record company EMI is considering selling MP3s without DRM protection, according to multiple sources. The possibility of the move soon being announced follows an open letter by Steve Jobs of Apple Inc. (makers of the iTunes store) against DRM. [5] [6]
- 8 February: Film composer John Williams has celebrated his 75th birthday. The composer has received 45 Academy Award nominations, and is running for four more Grammy Awards.[7]
- 5 February: Record company Apple Corps founded by The Beatles has reached an agreement with computer company Apple Inc. over the use of the name 'Apple'. Apple Inc. will now control the name and license trademarks back to Apple Corps.[8]
