Muster drill

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A muster drill is an exercise conducted by the crew of a ship prior to embarking on a voyage. The purpose of a muster drill is to prepare passengers for safe evacuation in the event an emergency occurs while on board the ship. Passengers are educated on the use of life vests and escape routes from the ship.

Attendance at a muster drill by all passengers prior to departure from port is mandatory by international law. All are required to attend, regardless of how many voyages on which the passengers have previously sailed, or how recently the passenger sailed.
