Mutabaruka, Mustafa (nee Ruud), Author b. November 18, 1967, Calgary, Alberta.

The author, most notably, of 'Seed' (Akashic Books, NY) 'Scar' (Church & Wellesley Review, Canada); poetry; numerous essays, and articles, while working for Pulse Niagara in Niagara Falls, ON.

The son of thoroughbred racehorse owners, Mutabaruka was raised, alternately, in Phoenix, Arizona and Alberta, Canada. After attending Ricks College in Rexburg, Idaho, Mutabaruka traveled extensively, writing sporadically until he gained attention in Canada first with the short story 'Scar' (written while living at the famed artists' haven, the Gladstone Hotel, Toronto}, then in the United States with 'Seed', a novel which helped to define the possibilities, and limitations, of the experimental novel ("A muscular feat of imagination...erotic, disturbing, entrancing," The Washington Post, (10/17/02); "A narrative tango...mystical and frightening," The Library Journal (11/1/02), etc.) and of the independent press.

His current whereabouts are unknown.
