[edit] Involvement with MQM

He has been associated with the Muttahida Qaumi Movement(MQM), an organization striving for the rights of 98% of people opperesed by 2% of ruling and allegedly, an organisation supporting Terrorism in Pakistan for more than a decade. He was nominated as Mayor (City Nazim) by the Haq Parast panel in local bodies election 2005. But it is believed that all orders are given from exiled British national Altaf Hussain. Kamal bagged 1,493 votes against 800 votes obtained by his main rival, former city nazim Naimatullah Khan, fielded by the Tameer-i-Karachi Ittehad of the combined opposition parties. The "election" of Mustafa Kamal was marred by numerous irregularities and shameless violations of the law and ethics of free elections. As mentioned above, Kamal gained 1,493 votes in a city with a population of more than 10 million.(those 1,493 votes were given by the people elected by those 10 million people as those members who gave votes to Mustafa kamal are directly elected by the people of karachi and then they gave their vote to Mustafa kamal.)

He is the most popular and likeable mayor(Nazim) in the history of Pakistan and Karachi's local government. He is a young dynamic person and has been serving the city quite dedicatedly since he took over the charge as the Mayor. He has a vision to convert Karachi into one of the most modern cities of the world.
