Muslim World League

The Muslim World League (MWL, or Rabita from Rabita al-Alam al-Islami) is one of the largest Islamic non-governmental organizations. It was founded in 1962 by Muslim religious figures from 22 countries in Mecca.

The organization considers itself as the cultural and religious representative of Muslim believers. According to various sources, the MWL is financed by the Saudi-Arabian government. The Secretary-General must be Saudi. According to the German newspaper Die Zeit, the MWL tries to propagate Wahabism with huge financial backing.^{[citations needed]} The World Assembly of Muslim Youth (WAMY) and the International Cultural Foundation of Geneva (established in 1978) are arms of the Rabita.^{[citations needed]}
