Musiliu Obanikoro

Musiliu Olatunde Obanikoro popularly known as Koro was born in Lagos state,Nigeria.He is from the Bakare family of Ita-Ado in Lagos Island,the Obanikoro(Ajayi-Bembe)family of Lagos&Idoluwole,and the Eletu-Odibo(Oshobile)family of Isaleko,Lagos.He is a Nigerian Senator and prominent politician. Prior to his election to the Nigerian Senate in 2003, Senator Obanikoro served as the Lagos State Commissioner for Home Affairs and culture from 19992002. As Commissioner, he won wide recognition for cultural and religious improvements such as the implementation of revised pilgrimage standards and functionality of traditional rulers in the affairs of Lagos State. Several other hallmarks of Senator Obanikoro’s tenure as Commissioner include the overhaul of an outdated fire fighting system, the birth of the black heritage festival and the Lagos water front tourism initiative.

Senator Obanikoro also served as a Local Government Chairman where he instituted a number of social and economic reforms in the Lagos Island Local Government. Senator Obanikoro is the Lagos State gubernatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP in the upcoming April 2007 elections. He holds a Bachelors of Arts degree in Public Affairs and Criminal Justice and a Masters Degree in Public Administration from Texas Southern University, Houston, Texas, USA. He and his wife, Lola, reside in Lagos with their children.
