Music & Home Entertainment Show

Music & Home Entertainment Show (MHES) – Consumer show. Happens annually in October in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Joint ownership by Norris-Whitney Communications and Steinman Co.

First show happened in November 2005. Originally named Toronto Music Expo (TMX); the name changed to Music & Home Entertainment Show in November 2006. Original slogan of the show was “Everything Music Under One Roof”. Since then, the show’s concept has grown to include home entertainment as well. 3rd annual show is October 13 & 14, 2007 at International Centre, Toronto, Ontario. MHES features displays of musical instruments, home keyboards, sheet music, pro audio gear, music education, music associations, home electronics, broadcasting, podcasting, digital music, software, CDs, DVDs, home theatre, the music business, home recording, memorabilia, apparel and everything else musical.

The show’s concept centers around exhibitors presenting new concepts, products, services and ideas to the attending public. In addition to exhibits, visitors’ regular attendance price also includes being able to see some of top rock, pop, folk, gospel and country performers live on stage. For an added premium, visitors can also attend seminars presented by experts in the fields of music & technology, the music business and musicianship. Of particular interested during the 2006 show were seminars presented by industry veterans such as Alan Cross, Jake Gold, Omar Hakim, Johnny Rabb, Haydain Neale (Jacksoul) and others.

The show’s goal for 2007 is to include more exhibitors and seminar presenters focusing on home entertainment such as home theater and video games.

Norris-Whitney Communications also publishes the following four magazines: Canadian Musician, Canadian Music Trade, Professional Lighting & Production and Professional Sound, and Music Directory Canada.

Other division of Norris-Whitney Communications is Music Books Plus.
