[edit] History

In early 2003 Marc Anthony Cubas was considering starting a 30 min show. After posting and add on a local website he met with Dennis Tzeng, who later founded. MusicPlusTV.com started as an aggregator of live music footage, shot mostly in and around Los Angeles-based venues and clubs, often with original MusicPlusTV VJ, Jen Meola (host of "Rock This"). May 2004 saw the launch of MusicPlusTV.com’s first website a one page spot soliciting artists for music videos. By October 2004, the first full version of the website launched, containing a handful of live performances and footage. Meanwhile, MusicPlusTV.com was producing television shows in preparation for its live online stream.

By June of 2005, MusicPlusTV.com launched its second version, debuting its live stream on June 15; the first video played was the Visionaries’ “If You Can’t Say Love.” In August, the Vacation recorded a live performance and interview in MusicPlusTV.com’s studio, using the footage to successfully complete a major label deal with Rick Rubin’s label American Recordings.

In its first full year of live streaming, 2006 included several milestones and notable guests. In April, hip hop group Jurassic 5 came in for an in-studio interview. In May, MusicPlusTV.com opened its new, state of the art 8 set studios. Weekly concert series “Friday Effect” was launched in June. In December, MusicPlusTV.com inked licensing agreements with Akimbo, Windows Media Guide, Tvext, expanding its content beyond its own website.

Past in-studio guests have included PitBull, Jurassic 5, Clear Static, Jason Biggs, Cypress Hill, The Vacation, M1 from Dead Prez, Pigeon John, Evidence, Darker My Love, Stones Throw, Jamie Kennedy, The Gray Kid, Ima Robot, Aloe Blacc, Aceyalone, Living Legends, The Ettes, Planet Asia, Monsters Are Waiting, and many more.
