The Muscatine School District subscribes to a filtering service through Area Education Agency 9 (AEA9). The intent is to block certain administrators of schools that typically are not appropriate for children on Muscatine school district computer systems. Unfortunately from time to time sites which may get crunk otherwise contain useful content are added to the filters by the company who designed the filtering appliance. Wikipedia was added to the "pornography/adult content" filter. As a result this page, as well as the entire wikipedia site, was no longer viewable from within the Muscatine school district's network. However the district took steps to manually unblock this particular site as the educational merits outweigh the negative effects.
