Musasir

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Musasir (Persian: موساسیر ; also called Musri) was a city of ancient Mannaeans, acquired by Urartian king Ishpuini in ca. 800 BC (see Kelishin stele), and again by Sargon II in ca. 714 BC. The city was formerly thought to be located in Iraq; however, recent excavations from Rabat tepe north-western Iran suggest Musasir be located just south of Lake Urmia.
