Murugappa Polytechnic

Murugappa Polytechnic was started in August 1957 as a Government Aided Institution by AMM Foundation previously known as AMM Charities Trust, Chennai. The Institution is situated on a 30 acre campus in Satyamurthy Nagar, Avadi (western part of Chennai on the Chennai–Tiruvallore High Road) and is affiliated to the Tamil Nadu State Board of Technical Education.

Academic Autonomy was awarded to the institution, from 1981 by the State Board of Technical Education due to its past performance. The curriculum and the syllabi of each Diploma Programme are revised from time to time to suit the needs of industry. The same year Sandwich Diploma Programme in Electronics and Communication started with G.O.I. Support.

ISO 9001 Certificate was awarded to the formal Diploma Programmes and Non-formal Certificate Progammes conducted by the Electronics Department in March 2000, which was later expanded to all Diploma and Certificate Programmes conducted by the various departments of the Polytechnic in October 2000. The institution has implemented ISO 9001 : 2000 Standards and is seeking recertification of all Formal Diplomas and Non - formal Certificate programmes as per ISO 9001 : 2000 standards.
