Murtaza Rakhimov

Murtaza Gubaydullovich Rakhimov (Bashkir: Мортаҙа Ғөбәйҙулла улы Рәхимов; Russian: Муртаза́ Губайду́ллович Рахи́мов) (born 1934) is the President of the Republic of Bashkortostan, Russia. He was elected on December 17, 1993 as the first person to become the President of the Republic. Prior to the elections, Rakhimov was the Chairman of the Supreme Soviet of the Republic—the highest post at that time.
