From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Mursaat (pl. Mursaat)are a race of powerful humanoid spellcasters from the PC CORPG Guild Wars.
[edit] Appearance
From their back sprout a type of thin black wings. The origins of the Mursaat race are unknown but various architectures and cultural allusions (such as armor) have been found throughout Tyria.
[edit] history
The Mursaat were first encountered by the outcasted Saul D'Alessio when he was banished to the Maguuma Jungle due to his drinking and gambling habits. The Mursaat reformed Saul and returned him to Kryta where he set them up as gods, and founded the organization and cult known as the White Mantle, who worship the Mursaat as the "Unseen Ones", due to the fact that no one but Saul had ever seen them. During the invasion of Kryta by the Charr after the Ascalon Searing, the Mursaat helped to repel the Charr invasion and save Kryta, firmly establishing the White Mantle as the legitamate government of Kryta. With the help of the White Mantle, and the Divine Eye of Janthir, an artifact from a Mursaat settlement known as the Isle of Janthir, the Mursaat sacraficed humans known as "the Chosen" on the powerful and ancient Bloodstones. This was in order to charge the Soul Batteries keeping the Door of Komalie, and the Titans behind it, shut away. However Vizier Khilbron with help of the player is is eventually able to release the Titans and destroy the Mursaat, although it is unclear if the entire Mursaat race was destroyed, or simply those garrisoning the Mursaat forts at Abaddon's Mouth. Since the release of the Titans the Mursaat sightings are rare, though there may be a settlment deep inside Maguuma Jungle as evidenced by the presence of "something Unseen" which hides the Jungle off of a river that runs deep into it, as well as various architectures reminiscent of the Mursaat.
[edit] Powers and Abilities
The Mursaat possess a spell called Spectral Agony, which can kill an entire team in a short time. To counter this spell, players have to get their armor infused. Infusing their causes the effects of this spell to weaken.
