Murilo Bustamante (born July 30, 1966 in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil) is a Brazilian mixed martial arts fighter. He is one of the founders of the legendary Brazilian Top Team. He has a professional MMA record of 13-6-1.
He was the reigning and undisputed middleweight champion of the UFC after defeating Dave Menne at UFC 35. He made one title defense, against Matt Lindland before leaving the UFC due to financial reasons and signing with PRIDE in 2003.
He was a finalist of the PRIDE Welterweight Tournament 2005 on December 31, 2005, where he dropped a controversial decision to Dan Henderson.
Murilo Bustamante has also fought Quinton Jackson and Chuck Liddell. He lost in close decisions to both fighters. In the case of the Jackson fight, he fought as a last minute replacement and had virtually no time to train for the fight; still he remained competitive against one of the world's top middleweights.
