Murgese
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Murgese or Murghese are a breed of horses that originate from Italy. The original breed can be traced back over 500 years. In the late 15th century and in the early 16th century, the governor of Monopoli kept a stock of Murgese stallions and kept several hundred brood mares in order to provide horses for the army. However the old breed died out and the breed was recreated in the 1920's as a light draft horse. You can breed a Murgese mare with a Thouroughbred or a Warmblood stallion to get a more quality horse for riding. They are 148-164cm tall.
