Murdoch McKenzie Wood

Major Sir Murdoch McKenzie Wood OBE, DL (1881 – 11 October 1949) was a Scottish Liberal politician.
The second son of James Wood, Cullen, Banffshire, Wood was educated at Edinburgh University
He was called to the Bar (Gray's Inn) in 1910, and was on the editorial staff of the Daily Mail. In World War I he served with the Gordon Highlanders and was severely wounded, later serving with the administrative staff of the Royal Air Force. He was awarded the OBE in 1919.
He was unsuccessful parliamentary candidate for Ayr Burghs in 1918, and was Liberal Member of Parliament for Aberdeenshire Central from April 1919 until October 1924, and then for Banffshire from 1929 until 1935. He was an unpaid Assistant Government Whip from 1931-1932, and Liberal Whip in 1923-1924 and 1932-1934.
He was a Deputy Lieutenant for Banffshire and was knighted in 1932.
