Murder on Music Row
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Murder on Music Row is a country duet by Alan Jackson and George Strait, released in 2000 on Strait's Latest Greatest Straitest Hits album. It criticizes the recent shift in country music from traditionality to more bubble-gum pop oriented sounds. The lyrics allege that country music executives and many artists have "sold out" by producing this newer sound in favor of traditional country music in order to attain more wealth and fame, effectively killing "true" country music. The song only reached # 38 on Billboards Country Charts. It's considered an anthem for many Neotraditional Country enthusiasts.
