Mungo MacCallum

Mungo MacCallum is the name of four prominent Australians (four generations of the same family). They are:

  • Mungo William MacCallum, born in 1854, was a distinguished Professor of Modern Literature, Vice Chancellor and Chancellor of the University of Sydney.
  • Mungo Lorenz MacCallum, born in 1884, lectured in Roman Law at the University of Sydney and then became a leading writer and book reviewer for the Sydney Morning Herald.
  • Mungo Ballardie MacCallum, born in 1913 was a journalist with the Sydney Morning Herald and also the ABC, producing its opening night of television in 1956.
  • Mungo Wentworth MacCallum, born 1941, son of Mungo Ballardie MacCallum and Diana Wentworth (hence, great-grandson of William Wentworth) is a political journalist who has published several books.
