Muncy Township is a township in Lycoming County, Pennsylvania, USA. The population was 1,059 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Williamsport, Pennsylvania Metropolitan Statistical Area.

The unincorporated village of Pennsdale is located here. There is a Society of Friends (Quaker) Meeting House in Pennsdale that was built in 1799, and is one of the oldest buildings and perhaps the oldest house of worship in the county.

Muncy Township was the first township in the county north of the river to be formed (predating even Lycoming County itself). It was originally formed as a part of Northumberland County, Pennsylvania on April 9, 1772.

As the crow flies, Muncy Township is about 100 mi (160 km) northwest of Philadelphia and about 165 mi (265 km) east-northeast of Pittsburgh.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 40.8 km² (15.8 mi²). 40.5 km² (15.6 mi²) of it is land and 0.4 km² (0.1 mi²) of it (0.89%) is water.

As of the census² of 2000, there were 1,059 people, 418 households, and 323 families residing in the township. The population density was 26.2/km² (67.8/mi²). There were 437 housing units at an average density of 10.8/km² (28.0/mi²). The racial makeup of the township was 97.54% White, 0.09% African American, 0.94% Native American, 0.38% Asian, 0.19% from other races, and 0.85% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.66% of the population.

There were 418 households out of which 27.3% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 69.1% were married couples living together, 5.5% had a female householder with no husband present, and 22.7% were non-families. 19.9% of all households were made up of individuals and 8.1% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.49 and the average family size was 2.85.

In the township the population was spread out with 22.8% under the age of 18, 5.2% from 18 to 24, 26.2% from 25 to 44, 29.2% from 45 to 64, and 16.7% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 42 years. For every 100 females there were 92.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 92.9 males.

The median income for a household in the township was $36,111, and the median income for a family was $40,595. Males had a median income of $29,762 versus $22,135 for females. The per capita income for the township was $20,621. About 6.8% of families and 10.4% of the population were below the poverty line, including 13.0% of those under age 18 and 4.5% of those age 65 or over.
