Muhammad al-Yaqoubi

Shaykh Muhammad al-Yaqoubi al-Hasani is an Islamic scholar born in Syria descends from a scholarly family whose lineage goes back to Prophet Muhammad (Peace and Blessing Be Upon Him) through his grandson Hasan (may Allah be pleased with him). His father was an instructor at the Grand Omayyad Mosque and the Darwishiyya Mosque in Damascus. It was under his father that he began his learning, at the age of only four years old. He studied the sayings of Muhammad (Peace and Blessings of Allah Be Upon Him) and commentary, as well as the writings of Imam Abu Hamid al-Ghazali and other classical scholars. As of December 11, 2006 he lectures at Masjid ibn 'Arabi on Sufism texts.[1] He taught classes at the Zaytuna Institute in California, which is run by Hamza Yusuf.

His most recent lecture in the United Kingdom was in January 2007 in Birmingham Central Mosque, where they delivered the speech "The Way of The Ulema" followed by a three-day spiritual retreat in Hertford.
