Mudukulathur is a panchayat town in Ramanathapuram district in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu.

As of 2001 India census^GRIndia, Mudukulathur had a population of 13,130. Males constitute 50% of the population and females 50%. Mudukulathur has an average literacy rate of 71%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 76%, and female literacy is 65%. In Mudukulathur, 12% of the population is under 6 years of age.

The town has three mosques (Big Mosque, Thidal Mosque, Musthavaram Mosque) and three temples (Murugan Kovil, Selvi Amman Koil, and Vinayaga koil). Vinayaga koil is situated on the side of Saravanapoigai pond, in the middle of the town. Mudukulathur Periya pallivasal Higher secondary school provide education to more than 2000 students.

Mudukulathur Periya pallivasl Minara (height 150 m) is the highest minara in the District.

There is a C.S.I Elementary School, a Panchayat Primary School, a T.E.L.C middle school and a Government Higher Secondary School.

Recently few private schools too have come up with English medium syllabus.

Few years back, the family of former Tamil Nadu State Assembly Leader Thiru. So. Balakrishnan has started an Arts & Science college affiliated to Madurai Kamaraj University.

This town has very well connected with nearby towns by road. There are bus services run by both government and private players.

This town, being a taluk headquarters, has a government hospital, a fire station, a newly constructed bus stand, a cooking gas agency, two post offices on rented building though and four banks SBI, RDCC Bank, LD Bank, and Pandian Grama Bank. There is lot of small shops,its very easy to find all the stuffs here. One famous tea stall in this town,called "KANNATHASAN TEA STALL","PONDA" is very famous in this shop,its like one kind of traditional sweets made from Maida and sugar. mudukulathur is a pleasant area and peoples are good. This town has lot of ponds- ooruni.
