[edit] Origins
In the Fall of 2006, a group of men at Northern Kentucky University decided to form a new organization based on Christian ideals. The principles of the organization sprang up as a means of combating what author Matthew Kelly observed as the three biggest problems facing people today: Individualism, Hedonism, and Minimalism.
Instead of living as Individualists, putting themselves first, the men of Mu Pi Phi strive to live a life of Charity, putting themselves last and their duty to God and their fellow man first. Instead of living as Hedonists, constantly seeking pleasure, and succumbing to whims and addictions, the men of Mu Pi Phi strive to practice Moderation, keeping their priorities in line and their lives well ordered. Instead of living as Minimalists, always asking "What's the least I can do to get by?", the men of Mu Pi Phi strive to excel in every undertaking with a Passion and profound sense of purpose. The men of Mu Pi Phi believe that fraternities should exist for the betterment of the members; that they may strive always to come closer to living the life they were created to live— a life lived according to the Word of Jesus Christ.
