MTV Desi

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

MTV Desi is a spin-off network from MTV that is targeted towards Desis, as the name implies. The network features various styles of music such as electronic tabla music and English-Gujarati hip-hop, interspersed among Bollywood videos. It also broadcasts brief documentary clips profiling Desis/Famous Indians in music such as Anand Bhatt, Swami, and Tony Kanal, comic skits about South Asian American generational conflicts, interviews with bicultural artists and Desi house parties, live. It launched on July 2005.

On February 15, 2007 MTV Networks announced that MTV Desi will be shut down at an undetermined future date.
