MTD Products (Modern Tool and Die Company), of Cleveland, Ohio began in 1932, and is a family-owned, private company. They began as tool and die makers, and now are manufacturers of outdoor power equipment.

  • Purchased German-based Ventzki
  • Purchased Aircap Mfg.
  • 1981, purchased Cub Cadet from International Harvester.
  • 1995, purchased Gutbrod, a German-based manufacturer of Lawn & Garden tractors.
  • Purchased White Outdoor Power Equipment from the White Farm Equipment Company.
  • 2001, purchased the assets of the bankrupt GardenWay, including the Troy-Bilt and Bolens brands.
