[edit] License tagging for Image:Tlk6na.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Tlk6na.jpg. Wikipedia gets hundreds of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 02:06, 4 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Image copyright problem with Image:Kopa23.JPG

Thanks for uploading Image:Kopa23.JPG. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).

The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}.

Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me, or ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Starionwolf 04:16, 4 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] June 4 2006

Hi, I see that you are new and that have uploaded some images. Please provide a fair use rational. Also, try not to upload two screenshots of the same thing. After you add the images, consider using thumb instead of frame. For example: image.jpg|thumb|right. Images in "frame" are too big for the main article and ruin the layout. And please stop deleting text without an explaination. If you want to talk to me, just press "edit this page", scroll down to the bottom of the page and type a response. Please respond. Cheers and thanks for understanding. --Starionwolf 22:35, 4 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] June 9

This is your last warning. The next time you blank or remove material from a page, as you did to The Lion King, you will be blocked from editing Wikipedia.

You are in danger of violating the three-revert rule on a page. Please cease further reverts or you may be blocked from further editing.

I've added the "{{prod}}" template to the article The Lion King Plot Synopsis, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but I don't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and I've explained why in the article (see also Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not and Wikipedia:Importance). Please either work to improve the article if the topic is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia, or, if you disagree, discuss the issues raised at Talk:The Lion King Plot Synopsis. If you remove the {{dated prod}} template, the article will not be deleted, but note that it may still be sent to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached.

Please stop creating new articles and adding Kopa to the Lion King until we have resolved this issue. If you like Kopa so much, perhaps you can create an article on your User Page instead of the main Wikipedia space. If you would like more information, conact me or reply to this message. Thank you and have a nice day. Cheers

[edit] Kopa

It's great to see such enthusiasm for a The Lion King character, but this is getting a bit silly now.

Please stop adding Kopa to the The Lion King article. He is not regarded as movie canon, and since the article is about the movie, he does not warrant mentioning. It could be argued that he is, in fact, movie canon and that makers of The Lion King II: Simba's Pride had not heard of the The Lion King: Six New Adventures, thereby making a big goof (although I had heard tell that the cub was originally male to match the ending of TLK, but changed to make the story different). But since we're following official Disney canon and not our own opinions on the matter, the cub at the end of The Lion King is Kiara, despite the obvious differences. The creators of The Lion King had no idea that there would be a sequel and neither did the writers of TLK6NA, so at the time the cub's indentity was up for interpretation. But since Simba's Pride has been released we now know who Simba and Nala's cub is. It is probable that they had Kopa and then Kiara, but since that's not official canon and only speculation, we have to go with the cub being Kiara.

In conclusion (since I do have a tendency to ramble), if you continue to add Kopa it will be considered a type of vandalism. You have already been warned about this and there is no reason to continue adding Kopa to the article. Thanks for reading. Blue Phoenix 22:43, 12 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Unspecified source for Image:Michaeljordan.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Michaeljordan.jpg. I notice the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this file yourself, then there needs to be a justification explaining why we have the right to use it on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you did not create the file yourself, then you need to specify where it was found, i.e., in most cases link to the website where it was taken from, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the file also doesn't have a copyright tag, then one should be added. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{fairusein|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. [edit] Re: Image:I-95tornado.jpg

This image is likely not fair use, thus it is a candidate for speedy deletion. Also, it appears that you were mistaken in the context of this photo: it is not a tornado, but a column of smoke from an 11-alarm fire that day, thus I have reverted your edits to Tornado. -Runningonbrains 02:57, 29 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Image tagging for Image:-Duckdodgers.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:-Duckdodgers.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the source and creator of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the source and creator of the image on the image's description page, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided source information for them as well.

[edit] Unspecified source for Image:Brooklynets.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Brooklynets.jpg.

If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. // Laughing Man 02:10, 30 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Wishingyouwell.jpg

Warning sign This file may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:Wishingyouwell.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. When you use a generic fair use tag such as {{fair use}} or {{fair use in|article name}}, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. ResurgamII 22:41, 7 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Orphaned fair use image (Image:Killerbuzzard.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:Killerbuzzard.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently specifies that the image is unlicensed for use on Wikipedia and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. [edit] Image:Governorpataki.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Governorpataki.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{Replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. [edit] FSN (network)

Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that recently you carried out a copyfrom FSN (network) and paste. Please do not move articles by copying and pasting them because it splits the article's history, which is needed for attribution and is helpful in many other ways. If there is an article that you cannot move yourself using the move link at the top of the page, follow the instructions at Wikipedia:Requested moves. Also, if there are any other articles that you copied and pasted, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Cut and paste move repair holding pen. Thank you.
