Mrs. World
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Mrs. World is an international beauty pageant organized annually as a beauty contest for married women. It is originally based on the Mrs. America beauty pageant. Arranged on lines similar to other beauty pageants, it also lays stress on women's opinion on marriage. It has been organized since 1985.
In 2006, the contest was marred by scandal. Twenty of the 54 candidates were denied entry visas to Russia, where the event was held. In the finale, Mrs. Costa Rica was crowned Mrs. World despite the fact that Mrs. Russia had been announced the winner. The award ceremony had to be repeated with only 11 of the 34 Mmes on stage.
