[edit] Trivia

  • This episode features the first (and so far, only) appearance of Julian's "adopted" grandmother, Mrs. Peterson.
  • The plot of the episode, as well as Ricky's musing of whether or not to shoot the stoned dog, is reminescent of his and Julian's previous job of the past year: pet exterminators, as seen in The Trailer Park Boys.
  • This is the first appearance of Sam Losco.
  • Starting with this episode, this is the beginning of a running gag in which Ricky is often shot under embarrassing circumstances.
  • As of 2007, this is Trinity's only confessional interview with the film crew.
  • Robb Wells has stated that this episode has made a number of fans believe that the characters in the show are, in fact, real. When he was in a bar on Prince Edward Island with John Paul Tremblay, a man, having seen the show, offered them three hundred dollars to kill a neighbour's annoying dog. They were so stunned that they had to explain to him the show wasn't real. To this day, Wells admits that the confusion was disorienting that anyone could take the show for reality.
  • Bubbles does not appear in this episode.
  • For syndication purposes in the United States, the episode was re-titled by censors "Mrs. Peterson's Dog Gets Stoned."
  • One birthday gift that Julian's "grandmother" got him was a N.W.A cd, to which she is unaware of the group's controversial song material.
