[edit] Niagara OHL
At the end of the day, Niagara Falls needs a facility like this. It lacks a venue to do those big events like many other Casino / Tourist destinations have. For example, Woodbine Racetrack and Slots is building a 5000 seat arena that will host concerts, shows and events. It is based on many other ones in the US.
It is more then just a hockey rink, it is a entertainment and sports venue. It is strategically located in one of Canada's top tourist locations. By hosting large concerts for example, it will be able to compete with the other venues in Toronto and London. Many Americans will have a shorter drive as well there is plenty of hotel space and the casinos, bringing in more revenue for everyone in the city.
I think it would be dumb for Niagara Council to let this slip through. There has, for much to long, a lack of will to do anything wothwhile like this for decades. Now is the time, don't mess it up!
