Mr Mann is a character in the British comedy Little Britain, portrayed by comedian David Walliams and also in one sketch by David Baddiel. The sketches revolve around Mr Mann entering a shop, which changes its theme each time, and asking the owner, Roy (played by Matt Lucas), for an oddly specific item. Roy will holler for his never-seen, limbless wife, Margaret, for help. She suggests suitable items, usually to no avail.
Mr Mann hardly ever purchases the items. However, he did purchase a record of James Last playing the hits of Nelly Furtado on the banjo, with a picture on the cover of Last holding out his hands displaying stigmata, which Roy happened to have in stock. He also purchased a picture of a displeased owl (to go with a painting of an inconvenienced badger).
After so long of being tormented by Mr Mann, Roy begins to snap back at him, retorting with comments such as "I hate you so much", and "Get out or I will strangle you." In some later sketches, it could be interpreted that Mr Mann's actions are knowingly mischievous, as indicated by a knowing smile by Walliams, or the "No, I'm blind" line, where Roy waved his hand in front of his eyes to see if he was telling the truth, and he waved back.

[edit] What Mr Mann has asked for
[edit] Series 1
- A pirate memory game suitable for children between the ages of four and eight, but he didn't want a memory game that was 'too' piratey. Roy had two different games in stock, both priced at £4.95, but Mr Mann wanted to spend £4.80, and proceeded to wait for his birthday the following week.
[edit] Series 2
- A date with a woman named Linda Williams (he liked the name, but it was not his favourite, his actual favourite was Catherine Drew but he said "in my time of life you can't afford to be too picky") aged 38 to 39, should have some height and shoulder length hair. He would not go out with Lindsay Williams or Linda Willis (he wondered if she would be interested in changing her name, but didn't know). Roy found the woman Mr Mann asked for, but then he quickly adds "did I mention, she should have a glass eye?"
- A film starring Chevy Chase and Rick Moranis as a pair of cops who have to go undercover and pose as rappers in order to foil a drug deal but ends up with a very amusing scene where they have to take part in a rap competition - Certificate 15. He is not sure the film exists but he would have liked to see it then. He would even wait until it was made.
- A birthday card for a man who is 65, he hates dogs, and cats, and cartoon frogs, but he likes single-celled organisms like amoebas, and loves the sea... word (c word). And then he asks for a birthday card that just says "Happy 65th birthday Michael Phillipedies".
- A book on Medieval English music dating between 1356 and 1390. Roy had a book, but he wanted a book that consisted of 306 pages and not 312. He ends up purchasing all of the books in the store and claims (probably sarcastically) that he is blind.
- A record of James Last playing the hits of Nelly Furtado on the banjo, with a picture on the cover of Last holding out his hands displaying stigmata and the sleeve notes by Dr Graeme Garden. Roy had the record in stock.
[edit] Series 3
- A painting of a disappointed horse (disappointed because it received bad news). He can apparently tell the difference between horse emotions, as he wouldn't go with a painting of a perturbed horse or a horse that had high expectations in life that have remained unfulfilled, or a horse that had a flicker of hope. He wouldn't go with a painting of a vexed kitten (but would reconsider a picture of an irked kitten), but he purchased a painting of a displeased owl. He could not help feeling that the owl looked more disillusioned than displeased.
- Any magazine devoted to problem feet out of Bad Feet Monthly, Athlete's Foot Times, Veruca Today, What Bunion, Ingrown Toenail Weekly, but not Celebrity Callus Monthly as he already has the magazine, or Foot and Ankle Pain Bonanza, as he's not interested in ankle pain, only foot pain, which he doesn't actually suffer from. He then asks for Hello! Magazine, and Roy happilly tells proceeds to get the magazine immediately, but is cut short when Mr Mann informs him that he was simply saying hello to the magazine on the shelf.
- A costume of the comedian David Baddiel; Roy manages to fashion one out of "nondescript" items around the shop, including Rory McGrath's jumper and Terry Waite's beard. When in the costume Mr Mann was played by Baddiel himself, miming to the line "Nothing like him!".
[edit] Deleted scenes Series 3
- A pot of white paint because he finds that colours are pointless. He asks for it with a hint of black, with a little bluey-redness, but then says he wants paint that's "purple but not purple", but won't go with maroon because it "lacks maroonity". He eventually selects brown from a colour chart, but asks for it in pink. This sketch is used in the Little Britain LIVE! stage show.
[edit] Little Britain Abroad
In part 2 of the Little Britain Christmas Special, he has pursued the pirate memory game he was looking for in Series 1 to Morocco. He is offered the exact same game that he was originally, and eventually he troubles the shopkeeper so much that he is violently thrown out.
