[edit] welcome!
hi there, and welcome to wikipedia. I'm very glad you have decided to join the preclinial medical project. I think you have a lot to contribute to the project and to medicine on wikipedia full stop. Feel free to send me a message if you any questions or whatever. Ps I have replied on the talk page.

[edit] Medicine Collaboration of the Week
Hi, and welcome! I'm not sure why you removed your nomination for biochemistry, but in case you didn't know, the project covers both basic sciences and clinical sciences (see the intro). It's only a subproject of the Wikipedia:WikiProject Clinical medicine because the Preclinical one didn't exist at the time I set up the COTW. Look forward to more participation! — Knowledge Seeker দ 03:55, July 30, 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Cancer intro
Hi Mr.Bip, welcome to Wikipedia. I'm slightly modifying the new version of the intro to allow for links to DNA and to clearly distinguish cell growth (which is an epiphenomenon) and cell division.
I've been doing a fair bit of biochemistry on Wikipedia although I am only minimally schooled in the subject. My particular territory of interest is the serpins, coagulation, inflammation and all those nice developments in TK inhibitor treatment of malignancies. I expect some nice biochemical additions from you! JFW | T@lk 20:46, 1 August 2005 (UTC)

Hey, Mr. Bip. Thanks for your comments in Wikipedia talk:Medicine Collaboration of the Week. I'll try to tone mine down in the future. Cheers! Edwardian 06:05, 7 August 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Thanks!
Thanks for your work on the first Wikipedia:Medicine Collaboration of the Week! I'm quite proud of how much the article improved, and I hope we remain an active force, improving medical articles on Wikipedia. — Knowledge Seeker দ 02:42, August 5, 2005 (UTC)
[edit] MCOTW
I have a good reason to retract my vote: I have a somewhat different experience with and perspective on the COTWs than people on the MCOTW. I work mainly on WP:IDRIVE where I promote all nominations, hopefully equally well, no matter what I personally think about the nomination. This is necessary for the special construction of the Idrive: there are no limits concerning the topics, so if the Idrive collaboration is supposed to work, we have to mobilize experts on the subject (in addition to the regulars who are people with broad knowledge) and mobilizing experts only works by advertising (they do not have the Idrive on their watchlist). So the votes for a nomination on the Idrive are a collection of people who are most likely to work on the article during the project week. I literally create those lists by advertising and therefore I hate to waste them, when a nomination has to be pruned. Also, social sciences, and you could say psychotherapy belongs there as well, is an area where Wikipedia is weak. So whenever it is possible I try to renominate pruned articles that have many supporters elsewhere, and for psychotherapy seven people are a lot. So I nominated psychotherapy after some hesitation. Usually new collaborations are founded by one person and they are happy if anyone drops by.
My agenda is to have good results on the COTWS in general. I have been arguing before that we should have more specialized thematic cotws, however, people who are here longer argue that most of these have failed in the past, only few of them, like India, go well. So I want the MCOTW to run well and it is important that there is good group cohesion among the members of the MCOTW and this is achieved for one by having fun topics, and psychotherapy isn't one of the fun topics for the MCOTW - that much I can tell. As a consequence of retracting my vote another article will win this week and members are less likely to become disillusioned with the MCOTW. --Fenice 08:27, 8 August 2005 (UTC)

Sure, I'll look it over right now. Is there anything in particular you'd like me to focus on? Also, where would you prefer I present my assessment? -- Avocado 00:02, August 11, 2005 (UTC)
- Review posted. I hope it's somewhat helpful! -- Avocado 00:27, August 13, 2005 (UTC)
- Hi, Mr.Bip. As usual, thanks for the incredible hard work you've been doing. I was going to do some work on Asthma; one matter brought up on Peer Review was the lack of inline references. I noticed you removed the footnotes from the article; is there a reason you did so or was it inadvertant? I just want to make sure it's OK if I restore them. — Knowledge Seeker দ 05:34, August 15, 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Wikipedia:WikiProject Clinical medicine/Collaboration
The previous notices placed by individuals onto the 'WikiProject Clinical medicine' page's sections of articles in progress or for peer review all got moved into an archive (hardly makes them current notices). The MCOTW discussion page has discussd having a list of pages at an inbetween stage of development, namely where others are sought, if having a specific interest, to help with a topic. I decided to be bold and create the subpage Wikipedia:WikiProject Clinical medicine/Collaboration. Please comment, praise or criticise at will :-) David Ruben 01:09, 19 August 2005 (UTC)
- asthma - read reviews with interest, I'll leave you to do your edit in peace rather than fiddle with the article myself now (also way past my time to go to bed). Could you add a bit about:
- 'Asthmatics have traditionally be barred from scuba diving, athough in some parts of the world those who are well controlled on preventers alone may dive. However those who have exercise-induced asthma should never dive' with a referrence to:

[edit] Cerebellum
Hi Mr. Bip, Thanks for your input on the cerebellum article. We've made a number of improvements, and submitted it as a FAC, in case you would like to post your opinion on that page. Thanks, Nrets 18:39, 26 August 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Cerebellum FAC
Mr. Bip--would you mind heading back over to the cerebellum FAC and seeing our changes? We failed the FAC nomination due two fairly minor oppositions. I've addressed all comments, so I'd like to see your opinion of the article now. Raul645 reinstate out FAC bid to give time for others to respond to our changes. Thank you so much for your feedback! - Asthma looks really good. I've made a few minor changes, but I could do those sorts of edits all day. I'm no doctor, nor clinician, so this is outside my expertise. I will offer my comments once I have an opportunity to read the entire article more closely. Cheers! Semiconscious (talk · home) 05:47, 30 August 2005 (UTC)

Hi Mr. Bip -- I've got some free time coming up and just wanted to offer to do a "Layperson's Review" (like with the Asthma article) on an article or two if you folks on the medical projects have anything you'd like looked at. Just let me know! -- Avocado 00:26, 13 October 2005 (UTC)

Bip: We ran into each other a while ago on the FAC and peer-reiview for cerebellum. Hi Mr. Bip, I'm messaging you because I see that you are in Wikipedia:WikiProject Community, and so might have interest and expertise to lend to this small project: Wikipedia:WikiProject Fast OrgDev Advisory on Userpages, which will write advisory document in support of the new Wikipedia:Proposed policy on userboxes. [edit] Connecting tubule
Hello. I noticed that you are a participant in the WikiProject Preclinical Medicine. The article Connecting tubule has been nominated for deletion. As this is an anatomical subject I was hoping to get somebody within the project to adopt the article for expansion. I could find no way to add the article to this project. I hope you or your fellow particpants would consider adopting this article to love. James084 22:01, 20 February 2006 (UTC)
[edit] “Medicine” on MCOTW
After a bit of inactivity, Medicine has been selected as the new medicine collaboration of the week. I am taking the unusual step of informing all participants, not just those who voted for it, since I feel that it is important that this highest-level topic for our collaboration be extremely well-written. In addition, it is a core topic for Wikipedia 1.0 and serves as the introduction to our other articles. Yet general articles are the ones that are most difficult for individuals to write, which is why I have invited all participants. I hope it isn't an intrusion; I don't make plan to make a habit of sending out these messages. — Knowledge Seeker দ 02:15, 16 April 2006 (UTC)

It is only now that I am a resident that I find my time significantly limited.
