Eccentric toy store owner, Mr. Edward Magorium (Hoffman), hands over his Emporium to his assistant Molly Mahoney (Portman). Things soon turn for the worst when Molly does not believe in the enchanted side of it and the magic fades.

Natalie Portman was offered the role in April 2005. Filming started in late March 2006 and production will continue to June 6, 2006 in Toronto, Canada. In an interview with Inside the Actors studio, Dustin Hoffman hinted that the Death Cab for Cutie song would be featured in the soundtrack.
The movie, is scheduled to be released in theaters November 16, 2007. The studio for the film is 20th Century Fox
