Mr. Gasser & the Weirdos

The '60s novelty act Mr. Gasser & the Weirdos was led by cult artist Ed "Big Daddy" Roth, who is best known around the world for his grotesque caricatures — typified by Rat Fink character.

Formed in the early 1960s they released a few bizarre surf rock albums, most notably 1963's Hot Rod Hootenanny. One Way Records released a 2CD-set (S22-18319) which contains the 3 LPs and the original artwork.

In early 1960s, the Rat Fink phenomenon had became widespread and model kits and shirts are been mass produced as it is popular with the youngsters. It was around this time that Roth formed the band Mr. Gasser & the Weirdos, a whacky surf outfit that that released a few bizarre surf rock albums, most notably 1963's Hot Rod Hootenanny. One Way Records released a 2CD-set (S22-18319) which contains the 3 LPs and the original artwork, and a pair in 1964, Rods N' Ratfinks and Surfink!. In 1995, a 30-track career overview of Mr. Gasser & the Weirdos was issued, titled The Hot Rod Hootenanny: Rat Fink Collection.
