"Mr. Brightside" is a song written and performed by The Killers. The song is featured on the group's debut album Hot Fuss.
Three music videos have been made for "Mr. Brightside" - the first being just a simple black and white video of The Killers performing the song intertwined with shots of a woman. The second, a Moulin Rouge!-inspired video, filmed in the setting of a turn-of-the-century bordello, was directed by Sophie Muller and starred Eric Roberts and Izabella Miko. The third was made in cooperation with MTV2 and NCSoft using graphics from NCSoft's MMORPG Lineage 2. It originally aired in MTV2's "Video Mods" segment and is now being used by NCSoft to promote Lineage 2. This third video also sees consistent airplay in both MTV Europe and MTV Asia.
"Mr. Brightside" has reached number one in the charts of various countries. It was a number 10 hit on both the Billboard Hot 100 and the Official UK Singles Chart. Whilst it hasn't performed well in the charts, it is one of the most frequently played songs at clubs and discos. The song was also nominated for a Grammy in 2006 for Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal, but it lost to a live version of "This Love" by Maroon 5. The song was featured on a televised advertisement for JJB circa 2003.
