[edit] Summary

Map showing the Metropolitan Police District in 1933.

The MPD boundary is shown in red, that of the counties of London, Middlesex, Essex, Hertfordshire, Kent and Surrey with a black dashed line.

This boundary was created in 1859 when the MPD was extended to include all parishes within a 15 mile radius of Charing Cross. In 1946 the boundary was realigned to reflect modern administrative divisions, rather than the parish boundaries of the mid-nineteenth century which in some cases bisected towns.

Based on a map showing the boundaries of the MPD in relation to the area of the London Passenger Transport Board issued 1933.
