MP3stor.com

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

MP3stor.com is an online music store launched in the beginning of 2006. According to their Terms of Service, they legally distribute music through an agreement with the Russian Organization for Multimedia and Digital Systems. However, this matter is subject to some dispute from the record labels. The possibility has been raised that mp3stor.com is a subsidiary of AllofMp3.com, as the two sites share similar pricing models and user interfaces. Perhaps the most significant similarity between the two sites is their near-identical Terms of Service agreements. However, there are significant differences, not least mp3stor.com's more limited selection of file formats and encoding rates, and a lack of AllofMP3's custom encoding options. Moreover, the AllofMP3 Terms of Service could easily be plagiarised by any unrelated competitor.

As of December 2006, MP3stor.com offer their customers approximately 61,000 albums. They claim to add 150 new albums a day. In addition to full-length albums and singles, the site also offers bootlegs and demo recordings. Most music is offered as VBR (variable bit rate) MP3 files. Neither OGG nor WMA formats are supported.

The cost of the service depends on the size of the file, which is $0.02 per megabyte, so the price for an average album is about $1.20 - $1.80, which is about average for Eastern European online music sellers.
