[edit] Music video

The music video of the song shows Tyson Ritter standing in front of the camera singing while switches to the next shot of him again wearing a different outfit and again while synching the whole song, which is a unique feature for a music video. Also, the drummer Chris Gaylor can be seen wearing a t-shirt for the crust punk band Filth.

[edit] Chart performance

The song charted to #15 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 and top 10 on the Pop Airplay chart. It also went to #4 on the Hot Digital Tracks chart. "Move Along" was also featured in the new Bionicle commercial for the Toa Inika.

The track stayed 39 weeks on the top 50 of The Billboard 100 until it dropped out the chart altogether the next week.

The band performed the song at the 2006 MTV Video Music Awards. The video for "Move Along" won the award for Best Group Video at that ceremony.

To date the single has sold over 1 million downloads giving them a second single to sell more than a million, the previous being "Dirty Little Secret".

[edit] Trivia

  • At the beginning and half part of the music video, Tyson Ritter appears to commit suicide by falling on an empty swimming pool (a possible reference to the death of his touring keyboardist, Tim Jordan).
  • The pre-chorus is, "hands are shaking cold, your hands are mine to hold." In the CD booklet, it is seen that "hands for millions cold, these hands were meant to hold" and "hands for millions cold, your hands aren't worth the hold" were considered.
  • This song was featured at the end and in the credits of the film She's the Man, the opening credits and beginning of The Hitcher (2007 film), the song also served as the theme song for World Wrestling Entertainment's 2006 Diva Search , and for the Bionicle competition, Free the band. It was temporarily used as the entrance music of Layla El, the winner of the competition.
  • Kim Smith's (Tyson Ritter's girlfriend) name partly appears on a person's wrist tag.
  • One chorus of this song includes a backup by a children's choir.
  • This song will be featured on Reginald Micu's "Prince of Fighters" movie, a spoof of the video game King of Fighters, showing KOF characters preparing for their fights and will be the movie's flag song.
  • This song will be used in a upcoming Foster's Home For Imaginary Friends (when Bloo is listening to it on a cd player).
  • The drum beat is similar to the one in "Throw Away Your Television" off of the Red Hot Chili Peppers album By The Way.
  • This song was used in the Toa Inika advertisements of the Bionicle line in 2006.
  • Tyson Ritter appears in many different clothes throughout the video- from a button shirt and tie to various t-shirts, a football uniform with the name "US" on it to a doctor's uniform.
