Mouvement National Congolais-Kalonji

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Mouvement National Congolais-Kalonji was a Congolese political party and splinter group of the Mouvement National Congolais, with whom it cut ties in 1959. The new party was led mainly by Kasai's Joseph Kalonji amongst others, including Joseph Iléo and Cyrille Adoula. Kalonji and his followers disagreed with MNC chief Patrice Lumumba's leftist views and sought to create a more moderate faction of the Mouvement. The main MNC party became known as MNC-Lumumba as a result of the split.
