[edit] Economy
With its land area of only 12 square blocks and its force of four full time police officers, Mountain View has a staggeringly high police per square mile ratio. Because it has a minuscule retail sales tax base from which to raise revenue, Mountain View relies primarily on traffic tickets to generate sufficient funds to pay its police and municipal employees. At any given hour of any given day, you are likely to see a Mountain View officer writing a ticket along 44th Avenue or Sheridan Boulevard.
