Mount Senario College
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Mount Senario College (Mt. Senario) was a private non-profit college located in Ladysmith, Wisconsin, in the Diocese of Superior.
The college opened in 1962 affiliated with the Catholic Servants of Mary (Servite Sisters). The College became non-sectarian in 1972. Mount Senario had twenty-eight satellite locations serving students mostly in the areas Criminal Justice, Public Administration, Business Administration and Liberal Arts. Mount Senario was certified by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction and also was accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.
Mount Senario closed on August 31, 2002 from financial trouble. Although the college was in poor financial health, some attributed the closing to the events of September 11, 2001 because the college had students activated by the United States National Guard.
Official student transcripts became the responsibility of the State of Wisconsin Educational Approval Board in August 2003 by court action. The transcript responsibility was transferred in December 2005 to The Wisconsin Association of Independent Colleges and Universities.
